Who are The New York City Sea Gypsies?
Founded by local scuba divers and instructors in 1971, we are a not-for-profit club made up of individuals of diverse ages and from all walks of life with one thing in common, we all share a love of scuba diving.
For some, this means local wreck diving every weekend. For others it's about exotic diving vacations to all parts of the world. Some enjoy underwater photography or videography, others seek artifacts or hunt lobsters, while many others just enjoy the underwater sights. A number of our members have been diving for over 30 years; some are just beginning their journey into the fascinating underwater world.
We actively encourage safe diving and encourage continuing education to improve diving skill.
Whatever your own interests, there's someone in the club you can talk to about local diving, worldwide destinations, wrecks, cave diving, gear, ecology, marine life, photography, dive safety and medicine, or any other dive-related subject.
